ADTX and ARKIVIO Form OEM Partnership To Deliver Data Lifecycle Management Solutions To Asian Market

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 8, 2003 – Advanced Technology and Systems Co. Ltd. (ADTX), a preeminent Japanese multi-national manufacturer and storage service provider of network storage and multimedia products, announced today it has selected Arkivio as its OEM supplier of data lifecycle management solutions and that they will sell a local language version of the ARKIVIOŽ auto-stor product to the expanding Asian IT market.

ADTX selected the ARKIVIOŽ auto-stor software suite to broaden their storage software and services offering in order to meet growing customer demand for non-intrusive storage assessments and data management solutions that automate storage consolidation, utilize more cost-effective secondary storage, and streamline archival and disaster recovery activities. The OEM agreement, with multi-million dollar potential to Arkivio, will involve the development of a Japanese only version of the ARKIVIOŽ auto-stor software.

Headquartered in Yokohama, Japan, with offices in the US, Philippines, China and Hong Kong, ADTX sells its extensive line of network storage products and offers SSP services to multi-national companies including Toshiba Corp., IBM Japan Corp., NEC Corp., Hitachi Electronics, FUJITSU, LTD., Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd., and Siemens, Solectron and Flextronics International. “Our customer base has shown an increasing demand for intelligent storage management solutions that measure data value within its lifecycle and automate data management to optimize IT resources while minimizing infrastructure costs,” said Fusahiko Hasegawa, president & CEO of ADTX. “After exhaustive due diligence of all the competitive entrants, we’ve concluded that Arkivio’s data lifecycle management solutions were the most comprehensive and proved to be the best fit for our customers.”

The new ADTX storage assessment services will leverage ARKIVIOŽ auto-stor’s agentless discovery and data collection to non-intrusively identify a client’s high and low value data and to classify and logically group storage resources by type, cost, or make/model. In addition, users will be able to automate data management actions to ensure high value data remains on primary storage and is replicated, while less critical data is migrated and archived to lower cost storage. By intelligently optimizing the placement of data and the utilization of storage resources, the ARKIVIO Data Lifecycle Management solution enables enterprises to fully utilize existing storage, prevents work stoppages due to volumes exceeding capacity, and automates storage management operations to improve productivity levels.

“We’re pleased to form a strategic partnership with ADTX to bring data lifecycle management technology to Asia” added Giovanni Paliska, president and CEO of Arkivio. “ADTX’s success in the Asian market and leadership in storage solutions to Global companies make them an ideal partner. We are confident the ARKIVIOŽ auto-stor software will enable ADTX’s customers to achieve a substantial ROI by automating data migration to lower costs RAID devices offered by ADTX and by streamlining storage management operations.”

About Arkivio

Arkivio, Inc., a leading data lifecycle management solutions company offers automated storage management solutions designed to minimize administration and infrastructure costs while optimizing IT resources. The company’s ARKIVIOŽ auto-stor redefines storage management for medium-sized businesses to large enterprises by enabling them to profile the criticality of their data within its lifecycle in order to automate its discovery and placement on the most appropriate storage volume across heterogeneous DAS/NAS/SAN environments, all without requiring installation of server agents. Its Policy Automation Engine (PAE) proactively resolves storage management issues without the need for manual intervention by searching all data and volumes across a network and intelligently migrating files from high-cost storage to low-cost storage or from over-utilized storage to under-utilized storage, according to policies and thresholds set by the administrator. Customers benefit from improved tracking and utilization of storage assets based on cost and improved productivity levels by automated corrective actions in response to administrator-define polices and alerts - driving the cost per managed terabyte of storage to its lowest possible level, while providing significant ROI.
