ARKIVIO® auto-stor for UNIX Ships, First Solution to Integrate Storage with Intelligent Data Resource Management

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., March 19, 2003 - Arkivio Inc. announced today the general availability of the UNIX release of its ARKIVIO® auto-stor software. With this release, Arkivio broadens their ability to provide customers with solutions to manage data growth and placement over its lifecycle, while driving the total cost of ownership to its lowest possible level.

The UNIX release of ARKIVIO® auto-stor enables automated and agent-less discovery, monitoring, and reporting of data and storage resources across heterogeneous DAS/SAN/NAS environments. Administrators are able to monitor total capacity (available and used) and data usage patterns, so they can more accurately match future purchases with actual storage usage and the business value of their data. In addition, these UNIX enhancements build on ARKIVIO® auto-stor's existing ability for Windows storage environments to adaptively optimize the placement of data on the most appropriate storage device on the network. By intelligently moving data to the appropriate resources, ARKIVIO® auto-stor can fully utilize existing storage, actively prevent work stoppage due to volumes exceeding capacity, and automatically direct data to new storage resources.
